Meet our Volunteers
Mariana Garcia - President
Mariana is currently a senior at Christian Brothers High School. Her passions are social justice and politics, along with videography and activism. She’s also involed in the HSDA Latinx Caucus. In her free time she enjoys writing, watching films, and discovering new music.
Dylan Julia Cooper
Dylan Julia Cooper is a senior at Christian Brothers High School and passionate about making a positive impact on the world. When she’s not poring over her schoolwork, Dylan can be found onstage, pursuing her love of the arts. As her namesake Bob Dylan once said, “I contain multitudes.”
Carmen Greiner
Carmen Greiner is a senior at Christian Brothers high school who fiercely aims to serve her community through her dedication to social justice. She loves to garden, explore new places, mentor younger kids, and listen to music.
Elizabeth Ann Ajiduah
Elizabeth Ann Ajiduah is a senior at Christian Brothers and is chief editor of the Green Book a climate blog. When she is not writing or working, Elizabeth is either cooking, going on hikes, or simply watching Netflix.
Natalie Chrisman
Natalie Chrisman is a Senior at Christian Brothers HS; she enjoys reading, writing, and history. She hopes to attend college next year, and aspires to work in STEM. Natalie was inspired to write for the Giving Sun after seeing the impact of homelessness on Sacramento as a whole.
Layla Airola
Layla Airola is a senior at Christian Brothers High School who is involved in helping unhoused Sacramentans by spreading awareness. She is also committed to helping the local community through active volunteering with the Sacramento Zoo and with SACOG’s Youth Leadership Academy.
Mathew Thomas
Mathew is a senior at Christian Brothers High School, and his passions are in economics, social justice, and creating a more fair society for everyone. He is an active member in several political organizations locally and nationally and also involved in research.
